Am I a good candidate for Invisalign® treatment?
Invisalign® is an excellent solution for both simple and complex cases, regardless of whether or not you have had orthodontic treatment before. Invisalign® is especially effective in treating misaligned jaws and over-bites with rubber bands that are placed on the aligner trays to help move your jaw as a unit.
When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Jensen will begin by doing a complete dental evaluation, and if you decide Invisalign is right for you, he customizes a treatment plan that aligns with your oral needs and goals. Dr. Jensen is also able to take a complete digital scan of your teeth using the iTero Element; using this, he can create a visual of how your teeth will look after treatment with the Invisalign Outcome Simulator.
How long will I need to wear Invisalign®?
You will need to wear your customized aligners 20-22 hours a day, replacing them with a new set of aligners every two weeks. Treatment time is typically 12-18 months, but the length of the digital plan we map out for you depends on your specific goals and how much you wear your aligners. Each set of aligners will gently move your teeth into place and transform your smile.
Does Invisalign® treatment hurt?
The purpose of Invisalign® is to move your teeth, so you may feel a small bit of pressure the first day or 2 of wearing a new set of aligners. This pain is very slight, and you can easily control the minimal discomfort with over-the-counter medications.
Can I eat with Invisalign® in?
No. This is one of the main differences between clear aligners and metal braces. Invisalign® is removeable, so you must take your aligners out when you eat, drink, brush, and floss. The good news is that since you can remove your aligners, there are no dietary restrictions. You’re free to eat whatever you want! Remember to put them back in when you’re finished because wearing them 20-22 hours a day is what leads to optimal results.
What foods can I not eat with Invisalign®?
Again, Invisalign® is removable. So, there are no food restrictions like with metal braces. Take them out at any time and eat whatever foods you choose.
How often should I clean my Invisalign® aligners?
We recommend brushing your aligners after every meal to keep them from becoming stained. Use a toothbrush, toothpaste, and lukewarm water to clean them. Take care not to use water that is too hot as it could potentially warp the plastic.
How much does Invisalign® cost?
The cost of Invisalign® is very similar to the cost of metal braces. We know every financial situation is different, and we consider it our job to make sure you get the smile you deserve. When you come in for a consultation with us, we will present all possible costs upfront and help you understand your insurance benefits.
